As a single mom of two teenagers, I've lived and worked in Loudoun County for more than 20 years. The Algonkian District has been a wonderful place to raise my family. I've watched our county grow, develop, and bring many exciting opportunities to our residents. But I know some residents are still struggling.

I was raised by a single mom who worked hard and went to school at the same time to support her family. I, like many in our district, faced similar challenges, and I know the ways in which our local government supports or fails to support our teachers, parents and business owners.

When I was elected in 2019, we immediately went to work on issues like school funding, infrastructure and revitalization and then were hit with a 100-year global pandemic. But we didn’t stop. We tested and vaccinated thousands and operated an award-winning business interruption funding program to help our businesses survive and keep workers on the job. We have since taken down the confederate statue and endorsed an equity resolution; we created and funded the unmet housing needs strategic plan; we instituted an environmental commission and passed ordinances on collective bargaining and firearms prohibition.

MEET JULI

My career started in journalism and communications and progressed through four years serving overseas with the State Department. I went on to work in education, where I helped families explore Pre-K options and childcare, and in marketing, where I served clients in the federal space. I’ve volunteered in educational, recreational, and community spaces all my life, and nowhere has that been more true than right here in the Algonkian District. I believe all of these experiences create a unique set of skills and values that best represent our community, and I’m excited to continue my work as your Supervisor.

I have proudly served on the Finance Committee, the Joint School Board Committee, the Metro Washington Council of Governments Board of Directors, the Virginia Association of Counties (VACO) Board of Directors, The VACO finance Steering Committee, and the National Association of Counties (NACO) Healthy Counties Advisory Board. I also chaired an Ad Hoc Committee on Boards, Commissions, and Committees that realigned advisory bodies to the county.

My story is the story of Algonkian District, where 70% of the women over the age of 16 are part of the labor force, and that’s why I feel called to continue representing this district on the Board of Supervisors with a foundation rooted in fundamental progressive values. I want to be a leader for the community that has been my family’s home for so long.
